University of Arizona

The Department of Hydrology and Water Resources was established as a separate program by The University of Arizona (UA) in 1961.  The UA is the only university in the USA with a department dedicated solely to hydrology and water resources. The department has been ranked for more than 7 years in a row the best department to study hydrology in the USA. Because of the importance of the Hydrology Department, its research is very well connected with projects in other departments, offering both cutting edge hydrologic science an integrative and holistic research projects, where hydrology is  interwoven with  many  other  aspects  of  water  resources such  as  policy, agriculture, ecology, development, etc. The collaborating departments of Atmospheric Science and the Office of Arid Lands Studies also include internationally recognized faculty.
